Sex addiction in Turkey: A large-scale survey with a national community sample

Abstract Prior studies on sex addiction have mostly relied a narrow range of risk factors among small and heterogeneous samples. The purpose the present study was to examine psychological markers related in large-scale community sample Turkish adults. A total 24,380 individuals completed survey comprising Sex Addiction Risk Questionnaire, Brief Symptom Inventory, Positive Negative Affect Schedule, Personal-Wellbeing Index Adult Form, Toronto Alexithymia Scale, Experiences Close Relationships-Revised (50% males; mean age = 31.79 years; 18 81 years). Utilizing hierarchical regression analysis, associated with being male, younger, having lower education level, single, an alcohol nicotine user, psychiatric distress, low personal wellbeing, positive negative affect, alexithymia, anxious attachment. This suggests that socio-demographic aforementioned detrimental exacerbate higher engagement addictive sexual behaviors community. However, more are needed better understand Turkey.
